At present, AI department has set up two undergraduate specialties: "Intelligent Science and Technology" and “measurement-control technology and instrumentation”,which aim at cultivating high-quality talents who master the advanced technology of artificial intelligence and have rich practical ability of artificial intelligence. Graduates have broad employment prospects and show a trend of supply outpacing demand. The main employers include: Tencent, Didi, Shunfeng, Ali, Huawei, Siemens, Ping’an Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd. and China Mobile Communications Group Co. Ltd., etc. 

AI department has more than 30 years of teaching and scientific research accumulation in artificial intelligence, in which "intelligent science series course teaching team" was named as national teaching team, "artificial intelligence" and "intelligent control" were rated as national fine courses, and “artificial intelligence network course” was regarded as the excellent network course of the Ministry of Education, and “artificial intelligence” was regarded as the national bilingual teaching demonstration course.

Meanwhile, it has carried out in-depth research on the frontiers, cross-disciplines and practical engineering applications of artificial intelligence. The main research directions include: pattern recognition and intelligent systems, machine learning, intelligent computing, intelligent information processing, complex networks, robot, computer vision, medical big data and multi-agent system, which also has established extensive international exchanges and cooperation with many famous universities and scholars in the United States, UK, Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong.
